Politically Correct Bedtime Stories (Recommended Reads) Book Review
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I always thought stand up comedy must be one of the most petrifying things to do. Although I haven’t read much satire, or books aimed at making the reader laugh, I can imagine that although far less nerve-wrecking than standing on stage facing a load of blank faces. No doubt – writing a book with the purpose of humour is no easy feat. There is no reliance on delivery, or atmosphere or facial expression – just the written word.
In any event, this short read was a great effort at that. Given the increasing politically correct attitudes (bare in mind, this was originally published in 1994), this light-hearted take on bedtime stories is written brilliantly. It is refreshingly original. Your childhood favourites become far more…all inclusive, I suppose?
Be warned – you may never look at Little Red Riding Hood the same way again. Nor would you want to address her by that title.
